November 29th, 1997 was our worst nightmare. We were just sitting down to dinner when the doorbell rang. Standing there were two police officers. The expression on their faces said it all. Our son, Chad, had been in a fatal car accident. He was only 20 years old. Since that day, nothing has been the same. Alexis, his daughter, has asked me many question about where her daddy is, and why he won't just come home. It is hard for a young child to grasp the reality of death. I knew that I had to do something for all of us, to help us heal.
The Personalized Angel were developed from an idea that all children are our angels. Each one special and unique. We need to CELEBRATE THE MIRACLE OF THE CHILD. Christmas, 1999 Alexis sat upon my lap and told me that the only thing she wanted for Christmas was a big big ladder. One so tall it would reach to the moon so she could have Christmas with her daddy. The idea of my Little Critter© stories was born.
First I created the coloring book Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Coloring the angels seemed to help all of us understand. Alexis thought her daddy was an angel and now every night she looks up into the sky, blows her daddy a kiss and says good night.
