Corn Husk Dolls

Dry some corn husks or buy some from a grocery store.
  • Soak the corn husks in warm water so that they are easy to work with.
  • Lay down paper or cloth on your work surface, as this will be a wet and messy project.
  • Pick four nice husks that you want to use. If you have one or two that have holes or brown spots put them on the outside.
  • Tie the husks together with some strong string. You could also user rubber bands if you want.
  • Flip two husks over so that the outside husks are now on the inside.
  • This step is where you make the head. Take a small piece of husk, wad it into a ball, and stuff it in between the husks. Tie some string under the ball.
  • Make arms by braiding three thin strands of husk together. Tie on both ends and slip it in between the husks.
  • Tie under the arms.
If you want to make a boy doll cut the "skirt" and tie off the two halves so they resemble legs.
    • You can make hair from dried corn silk.
    • You can make your doll all sorts of accessories out of extra husks. You can also make yarn hair or paint your doll. It's fun!
